Main Church
In 1812, La Purisima Mission was relocated to La Canada de los Berros, a canyon north of the Santa Inez River. The new site offered the advantage of being fairly level, right on the El Camino Real, and had good access to water. -
Shops and Quarters
Located between the Church and the Padres' Residence, this building contains workshops and apartments. Included are the candle-making rooms, carpenter shop and weaving room. "El Cuartel" was the living quarters for the unmarried soldiers. Also inside are the family residences for married soldiers and the Mayordomo. -
Padre's Residence
The Padre's Residence Building contains the padre's home, office, and chapel, along with guest quarters, leather shop, and the hide room, the space where much of the Mission's wealth was protected. -
Buildings and Grounds
This gallery contains an overview of the smaller buildings which are not part of the central compound, including the blacksmith's quarters, pottery shop, infirmary, and the padre's private kitchen. This gallery also includes the grounds, animals, fountains, and garden.
